School leavers from across the Dearne are invited to find out how they can build their careers at a major exhibition showcasing apprenticeship opportunities.
The ‘Apprenticeships: Be Inspired’ event returns to Sheffield next year, which will give businesses thinking of recruiting apprentices a chance to meet Y11, Y12 and Y13 pupils from across the region.
Organised by Skills Made Easy, a programme funded by the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, more than 500 school leavers attend the free event earlier this year and more than 200 apprenticeship vacancies were on offer from local and national employers.
Taking place at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield on Wednesday, March 2, between 1.30pm and 4.30pm, businesses interested in attending can apply for a free exhibition stand.
The event is open to businesses across the whole Sheffield City Region, with students from Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster also expected to attend.
Laura Hayfield, programme manager at Skills Made Easy, said: “Young people do not get many opportunities to meet directly with employers who are specifically looking to recruit at the time they are leaving school, and this is a brilliant chance to find out more about their options and make vital connections.
“We are looking for employers who are thinking of expanding their workforce over the next twelve months to take part in the event.”
Regional accountancy practice BHP Chartered Accountants set on two new starters after showcasing at last year’s event.
Alison Beal, HR manager at the firm, said attending “helped us to strengthen our existing links with schools and further education providers.”
