DON Valley MP Caroline Flint has lent her support to a new intiative aimed at helping combat people struggling to put food on the table.

The Doncaster West Foodbank was kicked off in Conisbrough and aims to help people struggling to eat well tuck into good food on a weekly basis.

Every Friday, between 11am and 1pm, locals will be able to drop into The Place in Conisbrough to pick up subsidised food boxes for £2.50.

The food, which is surplus stock donated by a string of local firms and supermarkets, will be distributed by local church groups and other organisations, with those receiving boxes also able to pick up information on healthy eating and nutrition.

For more details, search The Place on Facebook, follow on Twitter @ThePlacedn12 or call Christine Spence on 07833 680619.
