THE countdown to one of the biggest occasions in the South Yorkshire calendar has begun, with tickets to Doncaster Racecourse’s St Leger Festival going on sale this morning.
Admission tickets to the Town Moor racecourse’s world famous sporting event, the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival, went on sale at 8am, officially getting the countdown underway for the thousands of racegoers who will attend.
The festival, which will take place between Wednesday, September 11 and Saturday, September 14, last year attracted more than 60,000 people to Doncaster to enjoy a piece of the action.
It is expected that there will be an early surge of bookings as people make plans for what is traditionally the most popular racing event in the racecourse’s calendar.
Mark Spincer said that excitement was already building among his team, as they prepare to get the countdown started when tickets go on sale.
He said: “The Ladbrokes St Leger is the pinnacle event in our racing calendar, attracting guests from right across the country to witness a meeting that includes one of Britain’s classic races.
“It is the event that I think the team here at Town Moor look forward to the most. The atmosphere across the four days is absolutely electric and it’s always a fantastic meeting, with big crowds and some stunning racing.”
He added: “We’ve been taking bookings for Ladbrokes St Leger restaurants and hospitality for some months, but general admission tickets going on sale is the real start of the countdown for us.
“We’re expecting to see huge demand this year too, as the ticket offers we have in place are really strong. We’ll be starting four day festival passes from £29, and offering savings for early bookers and group discounts - plus kids under 18 go free with a grown up. With these special offers lined up for those that pre-book early, we’re sure that people from Doncaster and beyond will be keen to come along and enjoy some of the best racing action we can offer at a unbelievably good value.”
Run over four days, the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival gets started with the Leger Legends Raceday, which sees veteran jockeys return to the racecourse to take part in the UK’s only charity race ran under rules. Ladies Day takes place on the second day of action, before the biggest and best displays of racing get underway on Friday and Saturday.
