Doncaster businesses are missing out on millions of pounds by not appealing their rateable value, according to a business specialist.
The Commercial Valuers and Surveyors (CVS) said there are 7,073 firms that are yet to appeal their rateable value, which equates to £110.4m,
All non-domestic properties are given a rateable value about every five years, which represents the annual rent that the property could be let for at that time. Company bosses can appeal this valuation if they believe their firm is worth more. CVS said Doncaster companies could save £14.5m if they lodge appeals with a specialist rating agent.
