A Bawtry animal charity that helps re-home dogs and cats has received a £500 donation from Amazon in Doncaster.

The donation, which will be used to purchase a new washing machine and dryer to enable Mayflower Sanctuary to create another utility area at the centre, on Narrow Lane.

It is the latest delivery to be made to the charity by Amazon in Doncaster. The 415,000 sq ft Balby site also regularly donates pallets of animal feed to the charity.

The £500 donation was delivered to the centre by Amazon members of staff, who met volunteers and spent some time with the animals currently being cared for by the charity.

Heading up the team of visitors from Amazon was Doncaster Site Leader, Nathan Fetherston.

He said: “The Mayflower Sanctuary is a brilliant charity in our community that does important work in re-homing animals and we’re pleased to make this donation.

“It’s part of the ongoing work we do with the charity and it’s been great to come along to the centre in Bawtry to meet the volunteers and some of the animals being cared for here.”

Jennie Foxall-Lord, Sanctuary Manager from the Mayflower Sanctuary, said: “Our charity relies on the support of local businesses like Amazon and we’re thrilled with this donation from Nathan and his team. Amazon in Doncaster also regularly donates animal food for the dogs and cats we care for and on behalf of everyone at the Mayflower Sanctuary, I’d like to say a big thank you to the team for the ongoing support.”
