A USED car retailer has taken the views of customers on board to drive some major changes in the company.

Doncaster-based CarShop is offering several new services including money-back guarantees, online shopping and home delivery.

Jon Maltby, operations manager of the Doncaster branch at Trax Park, believes a large number of people are destined to move to online services and says CarShop will become the first multi-channel car retailer to sell motors both in store and on the web offering customers more flexibility and choice.

Mr Maltby said: “Research tells us that currently 30 per cent of consumers express an interest in buying a car online and that this is on the rise. We are proud to lead our competitors by offering some industry firsts. It is through these that we are setting the benchmark for used car retailers and innovating the market.

“While it’s unlikely used car sales will ever move completely online, our aim is to enable our customers in Doncaster to choose their car, their way – regardless of time, date or location. It is by offering this degree of choice and flexibility that we will move closer to making CarShop the number one destination for used cars,” he added.

The changes follow a rebrand, from The Car Shop to CarShop, and a new contemporary image. The latest developments underpin its ultimate goal of operating eight retail sites by 2015 and selling 80,000 units a year.
