An eyecatching bus will be launched onto the streets of Doncaster tomorrow to celebrate more than 90 years of motorbuses in Doncaster.
First South Yorkshire has painted a modern bus in the former livery of Doncaster Corporation, the organisation that ran buses in the borough for most of the last century.
This bus will be the centerpiece of a special event on tomorrow morning involving local stakeholders, including Mayor Ros Jones, and other dignitaries who will board it outside the Civic Office.
A celebratory trip in the eye catching bus will be made along the original first bus route in Doncaster, to Skellow.
On October 26, 1922, the first motorbus began operation between the former Brown Cow pub, a site now underneath the Waterdale Shopping Centre, and Skellow, when hundreds of eager customers turned up on that day to try out the new form of transport.
