‘Attic’ firm dials up a new deal and goes worldwide
A DONCASTER business which started life in an attic three years ago has dialled up a major deal with an international bank.
Conference call provider Meetupcall has secured a deal with the Vietnam International Bank following a successful trial, and now plans to target more overseas markets.
The business was set up in 2009 by former IT manager and consultant Simon Moxon after he tried to source a cheaper conference call provider for his then employer and spotted a gap in the market.
He initially ran the business from his attic before moving into offices and focusing on the business full time.
Mayor of Doncaster Peter Davies said: “In the current business environment, more and more companies are developing growth strategies which are increasingly focused on investing in overseas markets.
“Offering services outside the UK often holds the key to the future prosperity of businesses and the council is keen to support local companies as they move into new markets.”
Mr Moxon, 33, said the VIB was its biggest customer while the deal had highlighted opportunities in overseas, emerging markets.
He said: “The bank, which has 130 branches, still have to completely roll out the service so we expect it to grow significantly each month and we will be taking a harder look at the emerging markets in Asia and South America.”
The company’s customers also include Travelodge, Easyjet, Waitrose, Office Depot, The National Gallery and The University of Cambridge.
