A DOZEN apprentices have joined an engineering company to bring new talent to the industry.
Specialist Engineering Services (SES) has teamed up with Babcock Rail’s delivery team in Doncaster to put the new recruits through a 12-month training programme. The young employees will work alongside industry professionals and learn all aspects of track renewals and maintenance, picking up the necessary skills to develop their careers.
The initiative is a first for SES, which delivers bespoke solutions to the rail, tunnelling and civil engineering sectors. It now hopes to continue working with Babcock Rail to develop the scheme further.
SES rail director Carl Abraitis said the tailored programme included site-based learning which would give the apprentices very practical experience.
