Bus drivers to strike again

STAGECOACH bus drivers will strike again this week over pay levels.

Members of the Unite union based at Rawmarsh and Barnsley depots will continue industrial action tomorrow and Saturday, then plan to be back on the picket lines on January 4 and 16 next year.

Strikers say an offered two per cent pay increase with no back pay is not realistic. They held a mass meeting last week at which the decision to take further industrial action was made.

Bus operator Stagecoach will again draft in 100 supervisors and managers. Most daytime services will run as normal between 7am and 6pm, including school services.

A one pound flat single fare for adults will apply on strike days. Megarider tickets, child and pensioners’ free passes will be accepted as normal. A full list of services is at www.stagecoachbus.com/yorkshire or by calling traveline on 0871 200 22 33.
