Mums, dads and grandparents chipped in and made it a day to remember with a record-breaking fundraising summer fair for Conisbrough’s Cubs, Brownies and Scouts.
The event at the scouts headquarters on March Street last Saturday raised more than £1,600 for the groups which are going from strength to strength.
Cub leader Shaun Love said: “We were hoping to raise about £1,000 but in the end we raised £1,640.
“It was the best fair we have had and it was really well attended.
“The scouts took their turn on the stalls helping with the hook a duck, pop-the-balloon ten-pin bowling and tombola -
“The tea and cake stall was a family affiar with mums and grans taking care of things,
“Some of the parents were up until 1am folding the raffle tickets - that’s dedication for you!”
Mums deserving a special mention for organising the day were Michelle Dufty, Mandy Middlebrook, Kerry Hurley, Faye Halls and Elizabeth Sharpe.
Shaun thanked local businesses who donated more than 30 raffle prizes.
The cubs meet at the headquarters on Mondays at 7pm, the Beavers Wednesday 6.30pm and Souts on Thursdays at 7pm.
