A PERSON has died after being hit by a train near Adwick station, transport police have confirmed.
British Transport Police officers attended the incident which was reported at 12.50pm - the second death on the same track in four days.
A spokesman said: “Medics from Yorkshire Ambulance Service also attended, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the person and inform their family.
A file into the incident will now be prepared for the coroner.
The train involved was the 11.05 London King’s Cross to Leeds service.
Services between Doncaster and Leeds are subject to delays following the incident and Adwick station is currently closed until further notice.
It comes just days after man was killed on the same stretch of track near Adwick station at 5.30am on Tuesday.
And in a separate incident on the same day, a woman in her 30s was airlifted to hospital after she was hit by a train at Thorne South railway station.
