An award winning chippie in Belton is offering a free mouth watering treat as this week’s fantastic reader offer.

Lucky Epworth Bells readers are being offered a free regular bag of chips from one of the Isle’s most popular fish and chip takeaways, Plaice 2 Be, as voted for by our readers back in March.

Your favourite weekly read has teamed up with Plaice 2 Be in Belton to offer a free portion of regular chips on production of the coupon in the latest edition of the Bells.

Just cut out the coupon on the page and take it to the takeaway on King Edward Street to claim your free portion of chips worth £1.40.

The coupon is valid between Thursday December 11 and Wednesday, December 17.

The popular fish and chip takeaway, owned by brothers Gurd (pictured right with assistant Raj Singh) and Nim Mattu, won The Epworth Bells & Crowle Advertiser Chip Shop of the Year – and the co-owners still retain their ‘plaice’ at the top table thanks to their loyal customers who voted them number one.

Manager Nim, 39, of Belton, said: “This is a great offer for your readers. I would urge them to use the coupon and come into the fish and chip shop.

“We have been open now for about 18 months and business is going great. We enjoy being part of this great community.”

The takeaway sells traditional fish and chips, along with kebab dishes, chicken and burgers.

Take-away opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 11.30am to 2pm and 4pm to 9pm, closed on Sunday.

Plaice 2 Be serves up succulent chips and crispy battered fish daily and Nim said he was pleased customers felt they deserved to scale the dizzy heights of popularity.

Nim added: “It was absolutely fantastic news when we won the competition in March and knowing that customers feel we serve up the best fish and chips in the area. At the time we were up against some stiff competition, so I feel great that we were voted the area’s best.”

Nim further added: “The family has been in the area for the past 18 years, but the chippie has been here for only around 18 months.”

Brother Gurd added: “We are very well known in Belton as the family runs the local Londis store and post office – in the process of changing to a One Stop Shop with official launch of this in January.

“For me this business is a passion and I enjoy coming into work every day and seeing all the customers. They must like the fish and chips as they keep coming back for their usual tasty fix.”

Their fresh fish daily delivery is cooked with care using only top quality ingredients.
