Waiting for Video...

HYMNS, prayers and readings were offered at the annual Yorkshire National Union of Mineworkers Remembrance Service.

The annual service took place at Doncaster Minster yesterday in celebration of those who gave their lives while serving down the mines.

Bishop of Doncaster Peter Burrows paid tribute to the contributions and sacrifices of those who were killed in tragedies in pits in and around Doncaster.

Maltby Miners’ Welfare Band played during the service and the Yew Tree Theatre group performed a drama about the effects of mining disasters on communities.
