A clear up operation is under way at Synetiq – better known locally as Motorhog – after flames ripped through hundreds of cars on Friday night.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue crews spent hours bringing the blaze under control and spent much of the night damping down at the scene in Bentley Moor Lane, Carcroft.

Hide AdA spokesman for the firm has paid tribute to crews and staff who tackled the blaze, the cause of which is still being investigated.
It said: “The fire destroyed a number of Synetiq owned vehicles, but we are grateful that no one was hurt and our buildings were untouched.
“The Fire Service Incident Controller has praised the efforts of internal emergency response team, our emergency preparedness procedures and the efforts of our teams who worked in conjunction with his crew on the night. The cause of the fire will be confirmed once the investigation is complete.
“The fire was brought under control within a four-hour window, and there has been no adverse environmental impact on the wastewater run off thanks to our interceptor that traps any oil and prevents it from entering waterways. It goes without saying that all these vehicles had been fully depolluted.”
