Seven-year-old Alex Liversidge is top of the class with his schoolmates after winning a nationwide design competition.

Six-foot high cut-outs of a blue cyclops monster, dreamed up by Alex himself, will be displayed in 46 ten-pin bowling centres across the UK, having been selected as the winning entry in Hollywood Bowl’s Monster Bowl competition.

And the talented youngster’s prize is bowling for him and all his classmates.

Alex, who attends Rawmarsh Ryecroft Infant School in Rotherham, said: “It feels awesome to win! I’m really happy and excited to see my monster massive, and be able to show all my friends when they come bowling for my prize.”

Alex’s creation beat more than 1,000 other winged, fanged and tentacled entries.

Bev O’Connor, manager of Hollywood Bowl at Valley Centertainment in Sheffield, said: “Alex’s monster is even more impressive life size!”
