RESIDENTS in Wath are to campaign against proposals to transform a community green into a new housing development.
The Manvers Green Residents' Group are opposing plans to build 29 houses on a small area of green space between Cadman Street and Doncaster Road in Wath.

Protesters are concerned that the development will result in the loss of one of the Dearne Valley's green spaces, and will make the area dangerous because of the increased volume of traffic in a small and enclosed space.

Group spokesperson Andy Denton said: "The Green is at the heart of our community. We are determined to protect Manvers Green for our children and for future generations."

A decision on the planning application, submitted by building firm Gladedale Barlborough, is due to be made at Rotherham Council's Planning Board meeting at the end of May.
