POLICE are hunting a burglar who left a woman terrified in her own home, after stealing her belongings in a night-time raid.
The thief stole a black waist length leather coat, a Hewlett-Packard Laptop, a Sony Play Station Portable (PSP) and Linx toiletries from the house on King Street in Swinton.

Police said the victim, a woman in her 40s, was in bed when she heard ba
nging noises coming from downstairs at about 4.45am.

She went to investigate, and found the intruder in her kitchen. The woman asked him who he was and when he began to walk towards her, she screamed and ran back upstairs.

When the victim returned downstairs a short time later, the man had left the property with her coat, two computers and toiletries.

The suspect is described as a skinny white man in his mid-20s and about 5ft 8ins tall.

He was wearing a dark "Puffa" jacket with dark trousers.

Police said the victim noticed the man had a strange, "wobbly" walk.

The woman has said that the back door may have been left unlocked and it appears this is how the suspect gained entry into the property.
Police have now released an e-fit picture of the suspect and would like the public to get in touch if they have any information about the incident.

Pc Lisa Lockwood said: "Luckily, this incident was not as bad as it could have been.

"The victim was not injured – though left shaken by the experience – and hopefully someone may recognise the e-fit and let us know who might have committed this crime.

"Unfortunately, a third of burglaries in Rotherham at the moment happen because doors are left unlocked and windows are left open.

"I would like to remind people that they need to make sure when they go to bed at night, their home is secure and not providing easy access for thieves."
