A WOMBWELL mother-of-two found dead at her home is believed to have been killed by her husband, who is then thought to have taken his own life.
Detectives say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths of 42-year-old Tracey Grinhaff, whose body was discovered at her home on Aldham Crescent last Friday.
The body of her husband Gary Greenhaff, 44, was later found in
Wombwell Woods suffering from self-inflicted wounds.
The couple had two daughters, the youngest aged just three, who are believed to be staying with grandparents.
Neighbours in Wombwell described the Grinhaffs as "a perfect little family" - but Mrs Grinhaff had written on social networking website Facebook: "Currently splitting up from my husband."
In Tracey's online profile on Facebook, she wrote: "Been married for 16 years but together for 26!!!! God that makes me sound old."
Devastated friend Jennifer Lamplough and her partner Morton Fletcher last saw the Grinhaffs only a fortnight ago, and found out about the tragedy when they returned from a family holiday to Tenerife.
Jennifer said: "I'm gobsmacked and find it so hard to believe. I knew there were a few issues but for something like this to happen is quite remarkable. I can't imagine Gary would have done that.
"I find it quite mortifying. I have known them for years because my partner was a friend of Gary's. We went to Darfield Foulstone School but Tracey went to Wombwell."
Police found Tracey's body at 6.15am on Friday. The entire street was sealed off and a murder investigation was launched.
Then, at 7.20am, Gary's body was found around a mile away in Wombwell Woods. A man, believed to be a neighbour, was arrested and questioned by police but released without charge.
A major incident room has been set up at Wombwell Police Station. Call 01226 736 466 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
