ON SUNDAY, 31 August, the A635 Doncaster Road in Darfield will be closed to through traffic to allow the excavation and resurfacing of the bridge deck to be carried out. The road will be closed on that day between Nanny Marr Road and Fitzwilliam Road for safety reasons.
The official diversion for through traffic will be via Stairfoot roundabout, A633 Wombwell Lane, Wombwell by-pass, A6195 Dearne Valley Parkway.

It is anticipated that all the resurfacing works will be completed on 31 August. However, if unforeseen problems are encountered, the works may have to be completed on the following Sunday (7 September), again under a road closure.

On the Sunday following completion of the resurfacing, traffic control will be in operation at the same location to enable the bridge joints to be constructed.

Cllr Bill Newman, Cabinet spokesperson for Development, said: "The resurfacing at Doncaster Road is essential maintenance work along one of the main routes into Barnsley. I apologise for any disruption that may be caused while work is taking place, and I would like to thank in advance all road users and residents for their patience."
