FIREFIGHTERS were called to a Mexborough street after a backyard fire spread to a neighbouring property.
A resident of Byron Road was burning rubbish in their garden on Monday night when the flames spread to the nextdoor neighbours garage.

The emergency services were called and two crews, from Mexborough and Brampton, arrived at about midnight.

Firefighters battling the flames with two hose reel jets and left after about half an hour once the fire was out.

The blaze completely gutted the garage but, fortunately, there was no vehicle parked inside at the time.
