A YOUNG dad who was stabbed to death was about to become a father for the second time, his family has revealed.
Ian Stewart, 26, died from a single stab wound near his home at New Street, Darfield on the evening of Sunday May 4.

Mr Stewart, a gardener, was married with a 10-month-old baby daughter, Kathleen Ann, and his wife was expecting another child.

In a statement, his family said: "Ian was a loving man and will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

"As a family we are devastated at the death of Ian. For him to die so suddenly in such a tragic way has left us all shattered and unable to say a last goodbye.

"Ian was a loving husband, son, dad, dad-to-be, brother and uncle. He was a loving and caring person who was liked and respected by all who knew him.

"He will be deeply missed but never ever forgotten. We ask that we be allowed time to grieve."

*John Doran, 31, of New Street, Darfield appeared at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday charged with murder.
