SHE didn’t want a big fuss but that didn’t stop her family and friends making one.

Instead of letting the big day pass without fanfare, the staff at Owston View Residential Home in Carcroft, run by Doncaster Council, celebrated Ada Moore’s 100th birthday in style.

Ada, who has been a resident at the home for the last year, celebrated her century on Thursday.

Until last summer the proud centenarian lived in her own home but since taking up a place at Owston View she has become a firm favourite with fellow residents.

They threw her a special lunchtime celebration to mark the big day, which was also attended by her extended family and Coun Patricia Schofield, Doncaster Council’s cabinet member for Adults Services and Health.

“I kept telling them that I didn’t want a fuss, but no-one would listen to me!” said Ada.

Among the many great-grandchildren was eight-year-old Joel Thomas, who planted a big kiss on her cheek.
