A 10-year-old boy has been seriously injured after a traffic collision.

A 10-year-old boy has been seriously injured after a traffic collision.

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident at around 12pm on Sunday in Liverpool Avenue, Wheatley.

A blue Mazda car was travelling from the direction of Beckett Road along Liverpool Avenue.

It is believed the 10-year-old boy, who was riding a bicycle, came out of an alleyway and into the road, colliding with the blue car.

The young boy suffered serious leg injuries and various cuts and bruises. He was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

The driver of the car, a 49-year-old local woman was not injured.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 525 of the 7 July 2013.
