THIS week’s Memory Lane takes a public transport trip to the Thurnscoe area – with the kind help of the Thurnscoe Local History Group who have supplied us with this excellent trio of old photographs.

The story of the TOP photo is told on the engine itself – a British Railways Staff Association Mexborough branch outing to Cleethorpes, for staff and their families, on July 19, 1959. Were you on board, as an adult or a child?

If so, tell us your story.

The second picture takes us on the buses – but we’re really not when. Your help would be welcomed.

Finally, the third snap shows Hickleton and Thurnscoe railway station in 1905. Were your ancestors on the platform?

If any of these pictures strike a chord, or you have any old photographs you would like to see featured on this page then give us a call on 01709 303059.
