The antidote to feeling crabby

In need of a laugh and not too easily offended? A fun theatrical production to be staged this month at Birdwell promises laughs in plenty, amid dodgy goings-on in a holiday setting.

‘Sun, Sea, Sand....and Crabs...The British Abroad’... is described as “something like a cross between TV series Benidorm and a carry-on film”.

Interesting cast members include ‘four gobby tarts and a mouse’, a gay couple, a family with mother and son-in-law at war, and two women purportedly on a ski trip – whose husbands also opt for fun in the sun while they are away.

Chaos, surprises and mix-ups are all ingredients of the unfolding saga. Cast member Beverley Jacques, of Wombwell, who joins the Take 2 Adult Drama Group for the first time, said: “It’s a light-hearted comedy that will hopefully leave you feeling a little less troubled as you leave the theatre.”

Written by David Wrightam, the show is at the Academy Theatre, Birdwell, from March 23 to 25. Tickets, priced £7 and £6, can be ordered then picked up on the night. Call 01226 744442.
