PARKGATE based young people’s theatre group Steps Productions celebrated its second anniversary on Tuesday, (January 25) with a presentation evening.
With more than 100 members and their families and friends of Steps Productions in attendance the Management Committee delivered an evening of highlights from the first two years (with DVD footage) and speeches on their experiences. Director and producer, Ash White told the Times: “It has been a fantastic rollercoaster for everyone involved - as with anything their has been ups, downs, celebrations, trials and tribulations but overall these have been the best two years of my life so far. The best thing about what I do is waking up every day knowing your making a positive difference to the lives of young people within your community. That is both inspiring and rewarding.”
Steps Productions has gone from strength to strength, producing high quality performances including Dancing Through Life - a story about the life of a young performer and his battle with a rare form of bone cancer, where a percentage of programme sales went to Cancer Research UK, Boogie Nights - The Seventies Musical and Simply the Best - a tribute to the world of musicals.
The group launched as a non profit organisation and the management and fundraising committee have raised £31,000 since its launch from ticket sales and by holding social, sponsored and publicity events.
The Production Team also deliver workshops on fitness, healthy eating, acting, vocals and movement which will continue into this year. Auditions and meetings are underway for new young people to join the group.
Anna Brown, assistant producer of Steps Productions said: “If there are any young people aged 8-19 who are interested in acting, singing and dancing then do not hesitate to get in contact with us - rehearsals are fun, enjoyable and hard-work with the end result being a fantastic performance.
“Everyone is like one big family and that’s what we believe makes Steps Productions special.” Anyone interested in joining can contact Ash White on 07972 712 994 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
