BARNSLEY Sport & Activity Forum has landed a windfall of £82,328 from the Government – as part of the Coalition Government’s Big Society idea.
The forum – offer high quality physical education and sports coaching to schools – is one of 17 charities in Yorkshire and Humberside to net £1.3m of Government funding.
BASF supports schools with in-curriculum and after-school PE support from fully qualified National Governing Body approved coaches.
The payouts are part of the second round of awards from the Transition Fund, which the Government says is designed to help the charities most vulnerable to public spending cuts.
Other local recipients included: Doncaster YMCA (£62,402); Doncaster’s South Yorkshire Centre For Inclusive Living (£64,499); and Rotherham’s High Street Centre Limited (£62,725).
