SLIDESHOW: Curtain raises on the village panto

Waiting for Video...

OH YES it is! It is panto-time in one village in the Isle of Axholme.

The cast of Wroot’s annual pantomime is performing its own colourful version of The Wizard of Oz this week.

Written by villagers for the village, the performance takes to

the stage tonight, tomorrow and Saturday with all shows starting at 7pm.

Cast member Pat Hamilton said the show was always a hit with the community, and this year’s performance would be no exception.

“We will be having great fun with our show,” she said. “We are half-an-hour from anywhere so our panto - and our annual summer show - are very important community events. They are always extremely well supported, that’s why we have to have four performances.”

You can see The Wizard of Oz at Wroot Village Hall. Tickets are available from the Cross Keys on 01302 770231.
