A SENSATIONAL West End show is set to take Doncaster by storm next week with hit songs transporting audiences back to the golden age of rock ‘n’ roll.

Smash hit musical Dreamboats and Petticoats, which was inspired by the success of its multi-million-selling albums, is calling at The Dome for eight performances, from Monday.

The show is set in 1961 and features hit songs from Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Eddie Cochran and Billy Fury, including Let’s Dance, To Know Him Is To Love Him, Bobby’s Girl, Shakin’ All Over, Let It Be Me and Let’s Twist Again.

The storyline follows Bobby and Norman who compete against each other in a national song-writing competition, although initially they both also compete for the affection of cool kid Sue.

The cast includes X factor’s Terry Winstanley, Any Dream Will Do star Ben James-Ellis, David Ribi and Robyn Mellor.

Michael Hart, chief executive of Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, which manage The Dome, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming this smash hit musical to The Dome. We hope the show will attract a wide range of people, from those delving back into the past or those just with a love of music and good drama.
