It’s hard for Sheridan Smith fans to know where to watch this week as she stars in a handful of new productions on stage and screen.

Her mum Marilyn is setting the video to record the Doncaster actress taking the starring role in ITV’s Mrs Biggs while she watches the previews of Ibsen’s classic play, Hedda Gabbler, in London’s West End.

She said: “I’m really excited for her. She’s excited for herself. She’s nervous as it is a big part but she’s looking forward to it. There’s been a huge amount of publicity for her but it all seems to be going really well.”

Sheridan - who describes herself as a “Donny lass” - is taking the title role in the production of Hedda Gabbler at London’s Old Vic Theatre, which opens this week and runs until November 10.

She told her 272,000 followers on social networking site Twitter: “So strange being in costumes for the 1st time & on the stage. Suddenly feels real. Terrifying :D”

The 31-year-old, who began her acting career at Doncaster’s Civic theatre, is also appearing in a five-part ITV drama about Charmian Biggs, former wife of the Great Train Robber Ronnie.

The Gavin and Stacey star spent five weeks in Australia filming and she has praised the role as “one of her favourite” in her career so far.

Marilyn, of Station Road in Epworth, added: “She has certainly been very busy lately and we’re really pleased for her. It’s definitely worth watching out for her appearance in Scapegoat on ITV as well.”

In yet another production released this week, Sheridan is playing leading role Nina in ITV’s period adaptation of the 1957 Daphne du Maurier novel The Scapegoat, which is due to be shown on Sunday at 9pm.

There is no let up for the Olivier award-winning actress as she’s following up this year’s diverse set of performances with another theatre project in 2013, when she will take a role in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Little Britain star David Walliams.

ITV1 drama Mrs Biggs is being shown at 9pm on Wednesdays - with four more episodes left.
