If you are a fan of traditional all-round cabaret, the type served up by the likes of Jane McDonald, then Doncaster born singer and pianist Claire Vinkesteijn’s show would have been right up your street.

Claire performed her dynamic show recently at Doncaster’s Cast theatre in aid of neonatal charities as thanks for saving her and her daughter Lily’s lives after Lily was born prematurely in 2012.

Claire was accompanied on stage a live band who had been put together specifically for this gig and as she said, at very short notice - they only got their sheet music at 3pm that day – impressive!

They supported her with ease and the audience would have never have known if she hadn’t said.

Claire’s background is performing all over the world on cruise ships and she found fame recently after her Dutch husband Olly applied for her to go on hit TV show Holland’s Got Talent, to which she made it to the semi finals. Claire’s show flowed beautifully, featuring classic songs from Adele, Alicia Keys, Dusty Springfield, Kate Bush and Dolly Parton along with original material and some dazzling virtuoso piano arrangements.

Claire states that her inspiration was Liberace and this shone out as she performed some amazing piano arrangements in between songs.

Personal favourite numbers were Run (better than Leona Lewis in my opinion), Thinking out Loud (Ed Sheeran would be proud of her interpretation) and of course, Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights.

All funds raised at this performance were to be donated to neonatal charities close to Claire and Lily’s heart.

Little Lily made an appearance on stage to present a bouquet to the doctor who saved her life – was a very touching moment.

Claire’s singles Run and Happy Endings are available now on ITunes.
