This week we have a photograph from one of our readers harking back to his junior school days in Haxey. The photograph is the property of Malcolm White, of Graizelound in Haxey, and shows the Haxey Junior School class of 1966 during the England World Cup year.
Malcolm, 60, said everyone pictured was either his age or approaching their 60th year and added: “I remember my school days very clearly. I have some great memories of those times.”
Haxey resident, Malcolm, who turned 60 in January, is pictured on the back row of the image on the far left. He further added: “I still keep in contact with everyone in the school picture and it’s strange to look back now at the way we used to be having grown up together.
“One or two of the people have moved away from the area and some have stayed. The image shows the last year of junior school. I went from this junior school to a secondary school in Yarborough and then to Axholme Secondary School, but not before a full year as a boarder at a school in Caistor in Lincolnshire, where my brother boarded.”
He said he still referred to his old teachers of the time by their surnames and said these included Mrs Ashton and Mr England.
The picture shows (back row from left) Malcolm White, Alan Scott, Kevin Brammhill, Peter Appleby, Graham Thompson, martin Weaver, William Stainland.
In the (second row from left) are Richard Wooffinden, Pauline Pilsworth, Jenny Hubbard, Pat Coggan, Helen Glue, Janice Townes, Ann Parker, Christine Parkin, Richard Brown.
On the third row down from the top (from left) Susan Cooper, Tony Gould, Stephanie Tune, Shirley Harris, Jill Glover, Lynn Cooper, Sandra Taylor, Caroline Turner.
On the bottom row (from left) David Glover, Stephen Holmes, Robert Thompson, John Pears and Jan Knitter.
