Ashtons estate agents in York and Selby have reported a very promising start to 2013 and predicted a steady year in the housing market.

Ashtons, which has offices in Selby, York, Acomb and Scarborough, last weekend reported one of the busiest Saturdays in York and Selby for many years.

With the added benefit of being open seven days a week in York we have taken to decision for 2013 to open seven days a week in Selby and we are starting to reap the rewards.

Experts have said business in the area is expected to remain steady with house prices static in Selby and York area as buyer confidence begins to rise.

The key to the housing market in 2013 is making sure that we cover all bases, advertising via the paper may seem old fashioned but buyers are still buying, the internet has been a major factor hence why we here at Ashtons offer premium listings to all our properties to give it the best exposure.

We have noticed a large increase in the first quarter of 2013 via the internet and booking more viewings, this can only be a positive for the rest of the year.

With spring not far away and historically a busier time of year for us we can only expect a further rise in interested parties looking for new properties.

It is not only the sale market which has noticed an increase, the lettings have seen a massive surge in interest with Selby and York letting more year on year.

Peter Docwra, partner at Ashtons, said the letting side of the business “has never been better” with people feeling less urgency to buy.

With great deals to be had on both sale and rent we can only predict and bright 2013.
