Dearne Valley College Sports has launched a new running club, as the activity becomes more popular for fitness devotees.
Working in conjunction with Run England, the Wath-based sports centre is encouraging participants to get fit, regardless of age, fitness level, aspiration, background, or location.
Shaun Woodward, DVC Sports business and partnership development officer, told the Times: “We would encourage anyone interested in running to sign up to the scheme, to join like-minded individuals wanting to enjoy the outdoors whilst getting fit. Although the club is in its infancy, we have many activities planned for the future.”
Run England local activator Emma Slater-Clayton added: “The Run England project is helping those who have little confidence and experience of running to get started on the pathway to improving their fitness.
“It is great that we have teamed up with DVC in order to provide a club that will be accessible to both students and members of the community who want to enjoy running in a friendly, non–competitive environment.”
Signing up to the scheme is free and anyone wanting to join is asked to call the sports centre on 01709 513315, or visit www.runengland.org
