SANTA’S reindeer have a day off - to visit boys, girls and grown-ups at Rotherham.
The real reindeer caused a flurry of excitement in previous years, will parade the town centre on Saturday from 12.45pm, before settling in the Outdoor Covered Market until 3pm to meet all the children they will deliver presents to.
Santa will be in his grotto and traditional musical entertainment will be provided by Thorpe Hesley Brass Band who will parade then give a static performance at the Gift Market on Effingham Street from 1.30pm until 2.30pm.
Cabinet Member for Culture and Tourism, Coun Amy Rushforth, said: “We’re continuing the theme of a traditional Christmas in Rotherham town centre with this fantastically festive event. It will compliment the illuminations perfectly.
“The Reindeer Parade is always incredibly popular and gives children and adults alike the opportunity to get close to these magical animals. It’s great to have them back.”
Shops in the town centre will be opening late each Thursday and there will be free parking all day on each Saturday in council-run car parks and all on-street parking bays, in the run up to Christmas.
