GET ready for an explosive half term at Magna Science Adventure Centre.

Rocket-men kids can build and blast off their own spaceship as the Rotherham science park lays on an out-of-this-world break for parents.

Rocket-men kids can build and blast off their own spaceship as the Rotherham science park lays on an out-of-this-world break for parents.

The former Templeborough steel works turned adventure park is running a Water Rocket Workshop every day from next Monday to Friday (February 21 to 25) – apart from Wednesday, when it will host a Nano Technology Day.

On rocket days, kids can become an engineer, build their own water-powered projectile, and then test their design.

But on the Wednesday, things go 1,500 million times smaller, as young scientists see all the atoms and particles that make up a chair as the workshops explore the exciting world of nanotechnology.

This year marks Magna’s tenth anniversary and, as part of the celebrations, the centre is hosting a packed programme of hands-on science workshops throughout the year.

And if your little budding boffin craves more scientific knowledge, they may enjoy the Science Weekend, taking place on March 12 – 13.

As part of National Science and Engineering Week, families are invited to the Kitchen Sink Show, to take a scientific journey around the kitchen – a curious, messy, slimy world full of the materials and objects of everyday life.
