The National Citizen Service and Doncaster Rovers Foundation are teaming up to deliver an action packed half term for 16 and 17-year-olds this October.

The National Citizen Service is a government initiative which gives all young people in the country the chance to go on an amazing adventure packed trips followed by skills building as well as putting something back into the local community.

The Doncaster Rovers Foundation delivered a very successful summer NCS programme for 125 young people in the Doncaster area and have an additional 30 places for the autumn programme.

The autumn programme involves a residential trip to a youth hostel in North Yorkshire which has excellent facilities for all outdoor activities. Activities include outdoor survival, climbing, abseiling, water sports and more. On return from North Yorkshire, the groups will be working at the Keepmoat Stadium to plan a project in the local community.

Jan Budtz, Doncaster Rovers Foundation Community Officer, said: “The best thing about the NCS is that the young people get to do things they have never done before and along the way they make friendships that will last a lifetime and enjoy experiences that will stay with them forever.

“This programme is also recognised by employers and UCAS as a valuable experience and can support applications to university and employment.

“Due to the popularity of this programme we now only have a small number of places remaining. Places are on a first come, first served basis and places can only be confirmed upon receipt of payment.”

Cost for the autumn NCS the programme is £35 per person. This includes transport, food, accommodation, all activities etc. On graduation participants receive £20 back.

Anyone who is interested in getting involved should contact Jan Budtz at the Doncaster Rovers Foundation on 01302 764663 or email jan.budtz@doncasterroversfoundation.co.uk as soon as possible.
