A BUSKERS night at a Mexborough club is proving so popular that a staggering 17 club acts turned up to play for free on one occasion!
The Wednesday open-mic sessions at The Imperial Club and brewery are now packed every week... attracting singers from across South Yorkshire and even further afield.
Owner Frank Hoyland said he was overjoyed the night had been such a success.
He said: “We are a fairly new club, having only been open a few months.
“I started the midweek buskers’ nights not knowing what to expect. They’ve been running for about 10 weeks now and it’s packed every week – often with club turns who haven’t got a gig on!
“We had 17 here recently and we had to limit them to three songs each so everyone got their turn.
“We get a mini-bus load through from Chesterfield most weeks. It’s becoming a really a big attraction for pub and club turns.
He added: “It’s a case of if they don’t have anywhere else booked then they come here – and the more, the merrier for us.
“It’s been a real success with the customers as well. The bar’s really busy every week.”
