dealing with hair loss can be a devastating side affect of a number of illnesses and treatments, but thanks to a support group help is now on hand.
Enlighten, a group to help people deal with hair loss, has been restarted at Doncaster Royal Infirmary due to popular demand with monthly support meetings designed to give support and advice to all hair-loss sufferers. The meetings are hosted by a leading wig specialist and chief permanent make-up technician.
Permanent make-up technician Essjay Hartshorn, said: “Hair loss can be a distressing thing to go through and can knock confidence.
“But sufferers don’t have to go through it alone. Enlighten provides a support network to all hair loss sufferers in Doncaster.”
Essjay has more than five years experience, helping transform men and women using specialist techniques to restore eyebrow and eyelash definition, giving confidence by creating the illusion of hair.
Debbie Mace, an NHS approved wig specialist, and herself an alopecia sufferer, has been in the hair business for over three years and also runs the meetings.
Her expertise is drawn on to recommend and advise the best hair solution for each individual - from ready-to-wear hairpieces and wigs, to custom-made products.
Enlighten, which is backed by nurses and consultants at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospital NHS Trust, intends to expand its future activity, inviting guest speakers to explain their products and services.
Meetings are held at the Lincoln Suite at DRI on the first Thursday of every month, between 2pm and 5pm. For more contact Essjay on 07789 071 869.
