SHEFFIELD and its surrounds will be glowing with ghosties and ghoulies at Halloween. Float along to the following and have yourself a scream; Join Barney Baloney for activities at Whirlow Hall Farm from 10am to 1pm, October 30. Ticket event, £3 adults, £3.50 children.

At Handsworth Old Rectory Community Centre on November 1 there is a party and fireworks with fancy dress and disco from 3pm to 7pm. Entry £3.

Visit the Tropical Butterfly House at North Anston for its spooktacular from 10am to 5pm until November 1.

Go on a haunted hayride, visit the creepy cottage with resident witch, and enjoy animals and activities galore. £8.50 children, £9 adults.

CHATSWORTH: Explosive fire dancing; a glowing landscape of fiery sculptures; a stunning show by virtuoso circus artists and energetic street theatre performers make up the special entertainment at the Chatsworth Fire Garden ahead of the firework Grand Finale. The ticketed event is on October 31 and November 1. Gates open at 6pm when the fun begins, with 8pm fireworks time and 9pm garden closes. In DONCASTER there will be great and ghostly goings-on with a free Halloween spooktacular at Swallowdale, in Edlington. It will feature fancy dress, apple bobbing, stalls, and unwelcome surprises. It all begins at 10.30am on October 31 until 4pm, at the court on Jubilee Close.

At Market Place in Doncaster, prepare for a heart-stopping Halloween on October 31 with a prize fancy dress competition at noon, offering prizes for age groups up to five years, six to 11 years, and 12 years and over.

Between 12.30 and 2pm shoppers will be able to try carving a pumpkin and take part in a skulking skeleton hunt.

From ghastly ghouls to creepy crawlies, Doncaster Dome has it all going on. Dinosaur expert Dean Lomax, from ITV’s Dinosaur Britain, will share his knowledge on ‘Dino Day’, October 30, when children can travel back in time and see a ‘T-Rex’ hunting for prey at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.

Things take an eerie turn that same day with the Playzone Halloween party from 5pm to 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 per person or £4 if in fancy dress.

On October 31, Frightful Flicks sees a showing of classic film Ghostbusters followed by a spooky late night swim and pool disco. Film and a swim is £6 with doors opening at 4.30pm, show time at 5pm and the swim from 7pm to 9pm.

Also on Halloween, the ‘Day of the Dead’ disco lights up the ice arena between 6.30 and 9.30pm. Tickets are £4 and the person in the best Halloween fancy dress outfit wins a free annual skating pass.

At Rossington youngsters can join a Halloween themed handmade parade on October 31, from 2pm, that ends up with spooky celebrations at Rossington Miner’s Welfare Club.

In the DEARNE Elsecar Heritage Railway is running harrowing Halloween train ride specials on October 31. Trains run from 4.45 to 8pm and up until 6.45pm are expressly for children and adults. Later ones are for brave adults only. Tickets are Adults £7.50, children £5-00 to be purchased on the day. Come dressed up in your worst outfit and get involved.

Visit the ISLE OF AXHOLME this Halloween for a devilish disco with Best Spooky Outfit competition on October 30 from 5pm until 7pm. Tickets are £3.50 per child with one free adult. Under two’s are free and all children must be accompanied. For tickets or more information call 07854322739. Funds will go to Prostate Cancer Research.

Alternatively, step aboard the spooky pirate ship at North Lincolnshire Museum and meet Jack Sparrow on October 30 from 5pm to 8pm.
