Now’s your chance with weekly sessions to learn theatre performance skills, gain confidence and make new friends at the Doncaster Drama Workshop.

Professional performer Simon Hirst - who attended the prestigious Bristol Old Theatre School - will launch the Doncaster Drama Workshop today.

He said: “It doesn’t matter whether you are 17 or 70, if you have a qualification or are a complete beginner, everyone is welcome. These informative sessions will give people a chance to learn a wealth of drama skills applicable either to theatre or everyday health and well-being”,

NOTHING says summer like a glass of cider - and a festival offering the warm weather favourite is already under way.

Pub goers will be able to enjoy a range of ciders during a cider festival at four pubs in the area.The festival will take place at The Gate House in Priory Walk, The Red Lion in Market Place and The Old Angel in Cleveland Street, all in Doncaster, as well as The Old Market Hall in Market Street, Mexborough.

The pubs will offer up to 16 draught and bottled ciders over the 19 days. The selection will include traditional ciders, fruit ciders and perries.

Among those on offer will be; Mr Whitehead’s Plum Cider. Thatchers Cheddar Valley, Sheppy’s Farmhouse Draught, Weston’s Cider Twist Blackcurrant, Gwynt y Ddraig’s Welsh Gold Perry and Sandford Orchards’ Devon Scrumpy.The Gate House manager, Paul Sanderson said: “Cider is the perfect summer drink and I am certain that people will enjoy our fantastic selection, a number of which are not usually available in the area.”

Feel-good production Dreamboats and Petticoats arrives at Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre from Monday to Saturday July 21.

Bringing added X-Factor to the musical are Scott Bruton, X Factor’s series five finalist who joins the tour direct from the West End where he wowed audiences and critics alike with his vocal talent in the role of Bobby.

The story follows young musicians Norman and Bobby as they compete to win a national song writing competition and, more importantly, the attention of the gorgeous Sue. When Bobby discovers that shy Laura is no slouch on the piano, love and rock ‘n’ roll fame beckon.

CRAFTY folk will be flocking to the Doncaster Racecourse to pick up supplies.

Thousands of craft-lovers will be descending on the Summer Crafting 2012 event this weekend.

With more than 80 exhibitors selling a range of paper crafting, card making, jewellery making and cake decorating - there really is something for everyone.

Summer Crafting at Doncaster is hosted by Stephanie Weightman who is on hand all weekend for a gossip and crafty chat.

There will be workshops only tomorrow with a requirement to pre-book, with stalls open on Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm.

A MUSICAL extravaganza called Happy and Glorious is bringing award-winning talent to the region.

The Crossing Church in Worksop will host the concert devised by and featuring soprano Michelle Todd and guest baritone Tom Solomon.

Compering will be none other than Lynda Baron - better known as nurse Gladys in TV’s long-running sitcom Open All Hours.

Well-known songs from Cats, Chess, Les Miserables, Oklahoma, Carousel, Mamma Mia are included in the programme.

Lynda said: “I’m delighted to be working with Michelle Todd again. We have remained firm friends since we performed together in the musicals Little Me and the BAFTA Award winning Follies”.
