GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT - Late sowings for summer

As you continue to harvest your crops, some room may appear which you can refill with sowings of fast-growing veg which will be ready to use quickly.

Sow early varieties of carrots, peas and turnips which are quick to mature and place them under cloches or horticultural fleece when the weather turns cooler in a month or so, then you can extend your harvest well into the autumn.

Sow lettuce on vacant ground, along with baby spinach which can be picked for salads, and it’s also worth sowing Chinese cabbage and pak choi to add some crunch to your stir-fries.
