Dream over for unclaimed £250,000

IT could have made someone’s dreams come true, and paid for a state-of-the-art sports car or a posh new house.

But the dream has just ended for the untraceable Doncaster owner of a winning National Lottery ticket which carried a £250,000 prize.

Bosses at operator Camelot have confirmed the deadline to claim the outstanding Lotto Plus 5 top prize has passed - meaning the money has now passed to the lottery’s Good Causes fund.

The winning ticket was bought in the borough on Friday, March 11, but the prize remained unclaimed more than 180 days after the draw took place.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, I can confirm the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money.

“To avoid this unfortunate situation happening again, I would urge all National Lottery players to check their tickets on a regular basis.

“We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it’s a real shame they have missed out. But there is still one winner - the nation.”
