An exchange of sparkling diamond rings have already made it an extra special occasion for a couple celebrating 60 years together.

Joan, 80 and Ken Parkin, 81, of Fieldside in Crowle, will celebrate their diamond wedding day at the Red Lion in Crowle today with their three children, eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The couple (pictured) met in Epworth in 1945 and the happy pair were married at Belton Church in 1955. Six weeks later they were parted when Ken was called up for national service where he served in the RAF at Scampton, Lincolnshire. The happy couple lived in Jeffrey Lane in Belton until 1988 when they moved to their current address in Crowle.
