The newly formed volunteers group at Conisbrough Castle has launched a campaign this month to create as big a social history picture and collection as possible of the monument.

Currently under re-development, with support from the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund, the castle will reopen with a new visitor centre and new interactive displays in Spring next year. Since the castle closed three months ago, a group of 22 local volunteers are working closely with Community Projects Manager, Helen Keighley, to collect stories, memories and artefacts associated with the castle’s more modern history.

Anyone with an interesting story, object or image to share, email castleproject@english-heritage.org.uk, get in contact through the Conisbrough Castle Facebook page, or call into Conisbrough Library.
