Budding artists have a very good motive for drawing a loco

Young artists can use their talents to win tickets to The Festival of British Railway Modelling, at the Doncaster Exhibition Centre on February 12-13.

The festival features two days of working model railway layouts, specialist shopping and modelling demonstrations. There will be 30 fascinating layouts on display in all the popular scales and gauges.

Alongside these will be a selection of over 80 exhibitors showcasing some of the very best models, tools, parts and accessories. The show also features a special children’s area sponsored by Hornby.

Doncaster Tourism have teamed up with organisers Warner Exhibitions to offer free day tickets to the festival. To enter, colour in a picture of the Cock of the North – a brand new steam engine to be built in Doncaster. The colouring-in sheets are available from the Tourist Information Centre, on the High Street. There are categories, for ages four to seven and eight to 11.

There is also a drawing competition for 12-16 year olds. To enter, create a picture in any media, about Doncaster’s Railway Heritage on A4 paper and hand in to the Tourism Information centre. Closes 5pm on February 2.
