Bart’s Oliver revived on Yorkshire stage
Oliver! will be returning to Yorkshire with shows at Leeds Grand Theatre.
audiences will be asking for more when they flock to see musical Oliver during its five-week run at the Leeds Grand Theatre.
The production is 52 years old having premiered in the West End in 1960, and continues to attract audiences the world over. Leeds Grand Theatre is its only Yorkshire date and welcomes Neil Morrissey (Men Behaving Badly) as Fagin, Samantha Barks (Sally Bowles in Cabaret) as Nancy and Iain Fletcher (DC Rodney Skase from long-running TV series, The Bill) as Bill Sikes.
Leeds Grand manager Ian Sime said: “This is a classic production with a great cast; it’s a wonderful family show to have in the run up to the festivities!”
It is full of Lionel Bart’s celebrated songs including Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself, You’ve Got to Pick-a-Pocket or Two, I’d Do Anything, Oom Pah Pah and As Long As He Needs Me.
Matinees are being performed on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Neil Morrissey, while best-known as Tony in Men Behaving Badly, his West End theatre credits include Victoria Wood’s Acorn Antiques, Kay Mellor’s A Passionate Woman and Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls.

an international soprano is returning to Doncaster to perform as part of the Doncaster Choral Society’s first concert of the season.
Margaret McDonald, a mezzo-soprano, will be singing at the Priory Place Methodist Church this weekend.
Among works to be performed are Brahms’ Requiem and Alto Rhapsody. The glorious Alto Rhapsody, was written as wedding gift for Robert and Clara Schumann’s daughter, Julie. The deeply-felt Requiem is a firm favourite with many and its exquisite biblical texts are said to be a contrast to the more conventional Latin settings of the Requiem Mass.

a YOUNG musician with an eclectic range of sounds is performing in Doncaster just a week after the release of his third album, Think Bigger. At the tender age of just 22 Cosmo Jarvis has already made a name for himself as a young cultural chameleon.
His YouTube shorts have been viewed over 3.5 million times and earned him a host of celebrity admirers including Stephen Fry, Brian Eno and Kylie Minogue. He has just finished his first ever full-length film, which he wrote, directed, shot, edited, scored and starred in – on a self-financed budget of eight thousand pounds. Entitled ‘The Naughty Room’.
the film has had its premiere screening on BBC4 in August and has brought him a lot of fans.
