This week’s Memory Lane takes is a wonderful old picture of life in the last century, kindly supplied to us by Thurnscoe Local History Society.

The shot is of the assembled staff of branch number 48 of the Barnsley British Co-operative Society – resplendent in their white and stripy overalls!

It dates back to 1928, and pictured are Bill Irwin, Herbert Fawden, Mr Hurst, Mildred Hurst and Roland Bargh.

But we are not sure exactly where branch number 48 was..!

Do you know – or better still, are some of your forebears on the picture?

If so, do call our office on 01709 303060 and tell us your story.
