I HAVE composed this verse to mark the Party In The Park at Denaby Memorial Park on Wednesday August 6.
What a Party by Benny Wilkinson

Come on! Come on! Give it a go
Make your way to our Grand Show
And join in the National Play Day
Come on! Come on! Make your mark
At the Party in the Park
And I'm sure you'll want to stay.

M
ay it encourage and highlight
Confidence and creativity will ignite
A challenge and adventure for the young
A celebration of laughter and fun
From the moment the day has begun
Joys of new skills will loudly be sung.

Bouncy castle and funny clowns
Pony rides and fancy dress gowns
Circus skills, you may try to master
Magical dance presentations
Calypso band unusual gyrations
And balloons that soar free from disaster.

Stacked stalls for your viewing
Farmers market for taste buds renewing
Face painting of bright colours many
Play bus and information advice
Family gatherings are sure to be nice
As for distractions, there just won't be any

So let the kids have their day
Let this campaign show them they may
Build a confidence of lasting self esteem
And to every organisation, who needed no said persuasion
To support such a day – in a dedicated fine team
